Cobalt Anemone
Ginger Jar (769)

This elegant Moorcroft cobalt blue ginger jar (Model 769) stands at about 4.5 inches (11.5 cm) with the beautiful and hugely popular anemone floral design.
The William Moorcroft Pottery was the official Potter to Her Majesty Queen Mary for 50 years from 1928-1978.  Queen Mary died in 1953.  William Moorcroft himself died in 1945 but his son, Walter, carried on the fine tradition and reputation of Moorcroft.  This lovely piece displays the paper British Royal Warrant both on the bottom of the jar and on the inside of the lid (please see photos below).  The Royal Warrant reads

By Appointment
W. Moorcroft
Potters to the Late Queen Mary

This warrant label was used by Moorcroft Pottery from 1953 to 1978 according to Paul Atterbury in Moorcroft: Revised Edition 1897-1993.

In addition to the Royal Warrant on the inside of the lid and on the bottom of the jar, there is an original "Moorcroft England" sticker on the outside of the jar (please see photo below).

This outstanding Moorcroft piece, both lid and jar, is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations.
